About Cheri....

I'm a portrait and commercial photographer located outside of Pittsburgh in the lovely college town of Indiana, Pennsylvania. In portraiture, my goal is to capture something personal about my client as well make flattering photographs. I find the endless variety of human expression fascinating. Whoever my subjects are, I try to find something that makes them unique. I take a laid-back approach to portraiture and I don't do a lot of posing. Rather, I prefer to photograph my subjects in an environment where they can relax and be themselves. My goal: capture the personalities and relationships of my subjects. My philosophy: let's have a good time and in the process, get some great images!

My commercial work often involves collecting images for my clients' websites and includes environmental portraits as well as headshots, business details, and product images. My commercial clients have included real estate, construction, and design firms; bio tech start ups; restaurants, farmers markets, and wine and liquor shops; artists and musicians. Whether photographing families or providing "visual collateral" for business websites, I try to capture images that tell a story.

Nature and travel photography are two of my passions. I'm a biologist/naturalist by training and my fascination for the natural world in all seasons never ceases. I often carry my camera when I'm hiking or exploring - you never know when you'll be surprised by a rainbow of mushrooms sprouting up after a rain, or a doe rambling through the woods in a snowstorm, or the gift of an unexpected pink lady slipper in bloom! A number of images from my rambles and travels are available for purchase as fine art prints or canvases.

In addition to photography, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, walking in the woods with my dog Hazel, traveling (especially to our wonderful national parks!), enjoying good food and drink (especially ethnic cuisines, red zinfandel wine, and really good coffee), gardening (I'm horrible at this but love plants), listening to music of all kinds, and reading great books that open up new worlds to me.
